This workshop is available to people ages 16 and up. But should have experience in painting and drawing
Japanese Calligraphy is an art form that translates the calligrapher’s concentrated yet fluid execution of characters in a moment of time. Taught by Homare and Mamiko Ikeda, this workshop will introduce the basic strokes to construct Chinese characters (kanji) and Kana letters (Japanese alphabet), and provide instruction on how the harmony of strokes is achieved. Students will be challenged, by the repeated practice of brush strokes, to compare and question the contemporary use of lines in painting and drawing.
